Considered the next chapter of the Internet, the virtual world where people will be able to interact and carry out any activity – including work – is the latest bet by technology giants and promises to give new contours to human communication.

The metaverse is a virtual universe where people will interact with each other through digital avatars. This world will be created from different technologies, such as virtual reality, augmented reality, social networks, and cryptocurrencies. In other words, the metaverse is being designed as a sort of 3D Internet, where communication, entertainment and business will exist in an immersive and interoperable way. 

During the pandemic, corporates have experienced the benefits and the challenges of being out of office. Now, many are struggling with the ‘hybrid model’ of working remotely and in the office. A huge debate about the best working model for productivity is taking place around the globe. What if the metaverse eliminates all adversities involved? Could it be the end of the discussion over working from home vs. at the office?

The main difficulty in realizing this new universe lies in the fact that it does not exist yet — but the tech giants are heavily investing to change this in a short time.
