Work is changing quickly

According to LinkedIn’s inaugural Work Change Snapshot study, global executives are adapting their leadership style due to the changes at work, and nearly two-thirds of professionals are feeling overwhelmed by the pace of change:

  • 70% of global executives say the pace of change at work is speeding up.
  • 64% of professionals globally are overwhelmed by how quickly their jobs are changing.
  • 68% of US roles from LinkedIn’s 2024 Jobs on the Rise didn’t exist 20+ years ago.

The recent report shows that today’s college grads are on track to hold nearly twice as many jobs over their careers compared to grads 15 years ago. Futhermore, globally, more than 10% of workers hired today have job titles that didn’t exist in 2000.  In the next 5 years, the authors hightlight, 50% of all skills used to do our jobs will have changed and AI innovations will help accelerate this change to 70%.

Companies are leading through this change

As companies move quickly to innovate and drive growth, the study reveals that helping employees adapt is key: 80% of global executives are adapting their leadership style to keep up with the changes at work.

Top changes US executives are focused on for 2025: 

  • Adopting new AI technologies and tools: 58%
  • Navigating the uncertain economy and geopolitical climate: 51%
  • Investing in upskilling and reskilling: 43%
  • Evolving their approach to remote and hybrid work: 26%
  • Helping multi-generational teams work better: 23%   

“The change happening at work is challenging for both executives and professionals as it’s forcing everyone to rethink how they operate. While the pace of change can feel overwhelming, it also presents opportunities for those who lean in and build new skills,” wrote Karin Kimbrough, Chief Economist at LinkedIn.
